Kate is a Speech Pathologist with a passion for delivering high quality services that focus on the unique needs of each client and their family. She has worked in rural, regional and metropolitan settings in hospitals, community health centres and schools. For the early part of her career, she was a generalist Speech Pathologist. This was a fantastic foundation that enabled her to embark on a career concentrating on adult services, including the areas cancer care, intensive care, spinal injuries, general medicine, stroke and brain injury.
Kate has a passion for teaching and leadership in our profession and has a Graduate Certificate in Health Service Management. She has been involved at a state-wide level in the development of clinical guidelines and provision of teaching and training of Junior Speech Pathologist. She has also undertaken large scale cross disciplinary projects to establish and evaluate new services in hospitals, and is bringing this unique knowledge to further the impact that Pop is making across different settings.
When not at work, Kate is mother to 4 young children, step mum to 2 older children, wife to a busy husband and active member of her kids’ school and kindy communities. Her experience as a mum helps her to understand the joys and challenges that parenting brings and helps her to empathise with and support families on their journey.
Kate’s current role at Pop lies heavily within the Intake Team where we provide free advice to families about how speech pathology will be able to assist you on your journey. She is also a Senior Speech Pathologist and one of our Heads of Speech Pathology, so she spends lots of her time teaching and empowering Junior Speech Pathologists to be the best they can be!
